Registered Disability Savings Plans (RDSPs) - is a savings plan to help parents and others save for the long-term financial security of a person who is eligible for the disability tax credit. The Canadian government will contribute grant of up to 300% of eligible contributions (subject to limitations and maximums), and an additional bond can be applied for depending on the beneficiaries household income.

Flow through shares*** (FTSs) – With FTSs, certain corporations in the mining, oil and gas, and renewable energy and energy conservation sectors are able to pass their development and exploration expenses (which are 100% tax deductible) onto investors. Company stocks in these sectors are usually very volatile.

Tax Free Savings Accounts (TFSAs) – Canadian residents age 18 years or older, can contribute up to $5,000 per year (starting in 2009). Any investment income earned in the account is tax free, and withdrawals from the account are also tax free. There are a wide range of investments that can be held in a TFSA, such as GICs, mutual funds, and stocks.
